Demetri Evan Martin (born May 25, 1973) is an American comedian, actor, artist, musician, writer, and humorist.
He is best known for his work as a stand-up comedian, being a contributor on The Daily Show, and his Comedy Central show Important Things with Demetri Martin.
In both cases, father and son are eager to start over with appealing new women, but the ache of their loss, along with a slew of other complications, makes it difficult to turn the page. The comic is now 43 himself, though he admitted jokingly that he might “seem like kind of a man-child.” Having achieved some distance from the trauma, he felt he could “maybe try to tell a story about grief.” He knew it wasn’t going to be easy: “Once you get into this death territory I could see you could lose people pretty quickly— or just, it’s kind of a drag, you know.” Especially since the story deals not just with the grief of Dean but also with that of his father (Kevin Kline), who is dipping his toes back into the dating waters while grieving for his wife.Adding to the challenge, the first-time director couldn’t count on the instant validation he gets in comedy clubs. But he's done well despite that, I guess.""He has really struggled to overcome impotence," says Dan, a New York TV-channel staff writer, when asked about his fellow scribe Demetri Martin. But he's done well despite that, I guess." It's easy to see why Martin inspires grudging affection in his workmates. Seven years ago, he dropped out of law school to pursue a career in stand-up.as a project for a fractal geometry class, which became a well known palindromic poem.
